About Roy

Roy’s Background

Roy was born in Waco, Texas, and grew up on his grandparents’ farm in Salado, Texas. He graduated from Belton High School in 1977 and was very active in FFA and 4H, serving as a State FFA Officer. Roy was the first in his family to attend Texas A&M, thanks to a Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Scholarship. As an undergraduate at Texas A&M, he was a member of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets where he served as Commander of the Texas A&M Ross Volunteers and two years on Corps Staff as Public Relations Junior and Officer (1977 to 1981). He graduated from Texas A&M in 1981, with a degree in Agriculture, and is a certified teacher.

In 1985, Roy graduated from South Texas College of Law (1985), where he obtained a scholarship while there, serving on the Board of Advocates and was chosen as Co-Outstanding Student of the Year his final year. He was the founder of the Student Aggie Bar Association at South Texas.

Roy’s Family

Shortly after graduating from South Texas College of Law, Roy married his beautiful wife, Cindy (Aggie, class of ‘85), in 1986. At the time, he was serving as Briefing Attorney for the Supreme Court of Texas in Austin. After a year of practicing law in Fort Worth, Texas, the Brantleys were delighted to have the opportunity to return to Bryan/College Station. Roy has practiced law here for over 34 years, and Cindy has been a homemaker and taught school in CSISD for 20 years. Roy and Cindy are blessed with four children:

Bethany and Patrick Sleebos are owners and director of Suzanne’s School of Dance of College Station and have given Roy and Cindy three beautiful grandchildren: Jayden, Josiah, and Jocelyn.

Stafford and Julie Brantley live in Fort Worth, Texas, where Stafford practices law at Wick Phillips and Julie is the Physician’s Assistant for a Neurosurgeon.

Charis Brantley is pursuing her Master’s Degree and is the Women’s Soccer Graduate Assistant Coach at her alma mater, The University of Mary Hardin Baylor in Belton, Texas.

Celeste Stagg is an Event Planner and is pursuing her Master’s Degree in Counseling. She and her husband Daniel Stagg live in College Station where he is a Building Superintendent with DR Horton Homes.
